ABOUT JERRY WEATHERMAN
Jerry Weatherman  Orcas Island Pottery

Olga Pottery is the studio of Jerry Weatherman.  Jerry has lived and worked on Orcas Island since 1979, producing fine handcrafted porcelain and stoneware pottery.

Some visitors may have seen Jerry’s work at the Orcas Island Artworks, where he showed until 2007.  Olga Pottery, two blocks south of the Artworks, is now his exclusive outlet.  Visitors to Olga Pottery will experience a working pottery studio as well as Jerry’s show room, where they will find wheel-thrown and hand-built pieces reflecting a wide range of pottery techniques.

Jerry began making pottery in 1973.  Before coming to Orcas he was a teaching assistant in ceramics at Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon, spent a year as an artist in residence at Sun Valley Center for the Arts and Humanities in Idaho, and attended and conducted pottery workshops in the Pacific Northwest.  His work reflects his interest in the beauty of the natural world  and the rhythms and colors of the beautiful island where he lives.

Olga Pottery also shows paintings and cards by Diane Simonian, Jerry’s long-time assistant, and hand-forged iron hooks made by Diane’s son, Wiley.  Jewelry by Tara Brisbine is also on display, along with a selection of hand-knit items made by friends and family.
